WHO WE ARE

Citizen Sailors is a student project devoted to developing a Coastal Data Collection Sensor Instrument

The team consists of 6 students, currently studying the second year of the three-year bachelor's program Industrial Engineering and Management at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in economics and business, with a particular focus on industrial markets and firms. Citizen Sailors is a part of the course "Leading in a digital world", which seeks to expand the knowledge of leading and strategic thinking in a global and digital world.

The course explores how digitalization and digital technologies have created profound changes in value-creating activities across companies, industries, and society in recent years as well as insights into value creation in the future.

Furthermore, it expands the students understanding and skills related to leading and strategic thinking in a global and digital world through applying the appropriate frameworks, concepts, and methods in groups in an integrated take-home Exam Project and Live Case Project, "The Coastal Data Gap Challenge".

VISION

Our project seeks to enable citizen science, giving individuals the ability to collect, analyze and share data on coastal ecosystems. By providing the public with the ability to track and share their data, we hope to foster an understanding of the oceans and the impact of human activities. We strive to create a tool that is both easy to use and comprehensive in its data collection. Our instrument will allow users to track not only the environment, but also their own activities. We are excited to see the impact our project will have on the world of citizen science.
