RECYCLING GUIDELINES

When your WaterWhisper reaches the end of its life, we strongly encourage you to recycle it to minimise its impact on the environment. Please note that recycling options, as well as materials in the device might differ depending on your location. Research your local recycling options to find recycling facilities in your area that accepts electronic waste.Prepare the sensor for recycling by separating it into its individual components to facilitate recycling.

For the specific parts given in the "Building a WaterWhisper" section, they should be recycled as following: 

  • Raspberry Pi: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). If you're in the UK, consider sending it to OKdo for a £10 voucher on OKdo.com. Read more

  • ADC-module: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • TRRS Jack Breakout: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • USB breakout board: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • Wifi-USB Modem: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • Solar Power Manager: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • Solar Panel: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) or investigate if there are specific solar panel recycle options available in your country.

  • Hydrophone: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • SIM-card: Recycle as Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

  • Junction Box: Recycle box as hard plastic. Recycle the included rubber grommets as combustible waste
