TERMS OF USE
This Data Use Agreement governs the use, sharing, and protection of data collected by Citizen Sailors. By accessing and using the data, you agree to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
1. Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this Agreement is to outline the terms and conditions governing the use of the data collected by the WaterWhisper device. The data provided is valuable and sensitive, and therefore must be used responsibly.
2. Data Access and Use
2.1 Data Use
Users are granted access to the data collected by the hydrophone device for specific purposes, including research, conservation, or educational purposes. Users agree to use the data solely for the specified purpose(s) and to adhere to any limitations or restrictions placed on the use of the data.
2.2 Ethical and Legal Use
Users agree to use the data in an ethical manner, abiding by all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. The data shall not be used for any purpose that could harm marine life, their habitats, or the environment.

2.3 Privacy and Confidentiality
Users acknowledge that the data may contain personally identifiable information or sensitive locations. Users agree to handle and protect such information in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations, and to use it solely for the purpose specified in this Agreement.
3. Data Sharing and Publication
3.1 Restrictions on Data Sharing
Users agree not to share the data with any third party without obtaining prior written consent from Citizen Sailors. Exceptions may be made for collaborators directly involved in the approved project, subject to the approval of Citizen Sailors.

3.2 Acknowledgement
Users shall acknowledge Citizen Sailors and any other contributors to the data appropriately in any publication, presentation, or dissemination of research or findings that involve the use of the data.
4. Data Security and Protection
4.1 Data Security Measures
Users shall implement appropriate measures to safeguard the data from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. These measures shall be consistent with industry standards and best practices.

4.2 Data Retention
Users shall retain the data only for the duration necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) specified in this Agreement, unless otherwise agreed upon with Citizen Sailors.
5. Modification of Agreement
Citizen Sailors reserves the right to modify or update this Agreement at any time. Users will be notified of any changes and are responsible for reviewing the Agreement periodically. Continued use of the data after the modifications will constitute acceptance of the updated Agreement.
